Workroom Tip: What Is 'Match From Top'?
When it comes to patterned curtains, the details make all the difference. One of the ways we make sure your curtains look their best is an option called Match From Top. Here's what it is and when to choose it.
What does 'Match From Top' mean?
Usually, curtains are made by finishing the hem first. With Match From Top, we flip the process:
We make the heading first
Hang the curtains
Carefully pin them to their finished length
Then complete the hem
It takes a little extra time (which is why it's an added cost), but it creates a more consistent, even finish across the top of your curtains.

With Match From Top, the pattern sits evenly across the heading.

Without it, patterns can sit unevenly at the top.
When should you choose 'Match From Top'?
We recommend it for:
Checks, horizontal stripes and bold patterns: anywhere the pattern needs to line up evenly across the tops of your curtains.
Curtains of different lengths in the same room: to keep the tops consistent, even when the finished lengths vary.
Fabrics prone to dropping: some fabrics stretch and lengthen once they're hung. Hanging before hemming helps avoid an unwanted puddled finish on the floor.
The finishing touch
Match From Top is a small step that makes a big difference, especially on patterned fabrics where every line counts. If you're not sure whether your next project needs it, just ask. Our team is always happy to help.
